We unfroze Walt Disney.

Walt Disney wakes up from cryogenic sleep to reclaim his empire. And it’s ugly. He’s completely drenched in water, and part of his brain is still frozen. Cryogenic resurrection is humiliating. A sopping wet Walt faces a room full of people he believes are the latest and greatest animators and creatives. Walt proceeds to treat them accordingly by workshopping ideas from his half-thawed brain, delegating studio responsibilities, and revealing his deepest, darkest secrets. Everyone is invited to spend an hour with zombified Walt and reflect on contemporary culture. Maybe it’s time to stop rebooting ideas, characters, and properties from the past – no matter how nostalgic. This parody of the historical figure is NOT affiliated with or endorsed by The Walt Disney Company.

WALT UNFROZEN premiered at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August.

An unexpected collision of theatre, circus, clowning, satire and carefully constructed chaos. At times, you think you know exactly what is happening, only for the production to scramble your brain again. Somehow, amid all the madness, there is the strange sensation that you’ve stepped into a slightly unhinged Disney park experience.

Fantastic! I was laughing almost the entire runtime. Not only was the physical comedy great, but the scripted bits AND audience improvisation were all spot on. I saw the closing performance, but if you’re able to see this elsewhere, you MUST!
